Indian 2, the highly anticipated second installment in the Indian franchise, is gearing up for a July 2024 release. The movie, which marks the second collaboration of legendary actor Kamal Haasan and senior filmmaker Shankar, has created quite a stir on social media with its promising intro video. After a long wait, the makers of Indian 2 are finally set to drop the official trailer tonight (June 25, 2024). The trailer will be launched at the grand promotional event, which will be held in Mumbai at 7 PM.
Here’s what we can expect from the Indian 2 trailer...
Kamal Haasan as the iconic character Senapathy
The Indian 2 trailer is expected to give more screen time to Veerasekhara Senapathy aka Indian, the titular character played by Kamal Haasan, unlike the intro video. For the uninitiated, the legendary actor appeared towards the end of the Indian 2 intro video for a few seconds, leaving his fans disappointed. However, the trailer is expected to compensate for the same, by providing more screentime to the leading man.
A glimpse of Shankar’s world and characters
The Indian 2 intro video quickly introduced the viewers to the world it is set in – present India – and what prompted Senapathy, who has settled abroad, to return to his country. However, the upcoming Indian 2 trailer is expected to focus more on the world, the principal characters, and their motives. Still, the cine-goers hope the director would refrain from revealing the story in the trailer.

Chitra Varadarajan, the character played by Siddharth is expected to be as important as Kamal Haasan’s Veerasekharan Senapathy, in the film. Rakul Preet Singh is reportedly set to appear as Chitra's lady love. The movie features a stellar star cast including late actors Nedumudi Veni, Vivek, and Manobala, along with SJ Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Delhi Ganesh, Gulshan Grover, Kalidas Jayaram, Jayaprakash, and many others.
A different aspect of Anirudh's music score
The young musician, who is currently at the peak of his career, has not really impressed the Tamil cinema lovers with his music score in Indian 2. The background score of the Intro video and later the songs (especially Kadhalarz), were heavily criticised by the audience, who are evidently missing AR Rahman’s iconic score from the original film, which was released in 1996.
