Indian 2, the highly anticipated Kamal Haasan starrer is gearing up to hit the theatres on July 12, 2024. Ahead of the grand release, the makers revealed the Indian 2 trailer on social media, today (June 25, 2024), at the grand events held in Chennai and Mumbai. The long-awaited trailer, which re-introduces Kamal Haasan’s character Senapathy and the new additions to the world, has received mixed reactions from netizens. While the Ulaganayagan’s looks impressed the cine-goers, the over-stuffed trailer of Shankar’s film failed to impress.

The Indian 2 trailer has been receiving mixed reactions from the netizens, especially the Tamil cinema audiences who grew up watching the 1996-released first installment, Indian. The cine-goers point out that the trailer of Shankar’s upcoming film is quite messy, owing to its execution and too many characters. They also feel that the essence of the original is missing in all the promotional materials of Indian 2, that are released so far. Some even point out that the larger-than-life approach adapted by Shankar is not working for the film.

However, Kamal Haasan, who returns to play Veerasekharan Senapathy in Indian 2, highly impressed the film fanatics with his impeccable screen presence, unique get-ups, and exceptional voice modulation. The netizens feel that the Ulagayanayan is back to impress the Tamil cinema audience with yet another power-packed performance, in the social thriller. They also point out that director Shankar promises a visually-enthralling theatrical experience with the film, thanks to the excellent visuals and production quality.

Kamal Haasan’s role in Indian franchise
For the uninitiated, Indian followed the life of Veerasekharan Senapathy, a freedom fighter and doting father, who decides to clean up the system in his own ways, after his daughter's tragic demise. However, his son Chandra Bose aka Chandru soon goes against his father’s values, leaving latter heartbroken. Kamal Haasan played both Senapathy and Chandru in the Shankar directorial. The 1996-released first installment is now streaming on Aha Tami, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video.
The legend is reprising the much-loved character Senapathy, who is widely known as Indian, in the highly anticipated sequel of the film. In the second installment, the story focuses on the 106-year-old Senapathy, who decides to take matters into his hand after he realises the system is more corrupted than ever, now. Chitra Varadarajan (Siddharth) becomes his biggest ally and cheerleader.
