Indian 2: Rajinikanth, SS Rajamouli join forces for Kamal Haasan and Shankar

Lyca Productions has announced that Superstar Rajinikanth and hit filmmaker SS Rajamouli will unveil the first teaser for the highly-anticipated film Indian 2, which stars Kamal Haasan. The teaser, titled "Indian 2 An Intro," is scheduled for release online at 5:30 PM on November 3.

While sharing the new update about Indian 2 teaser, the production house also emphasised the enduring friendship between Kamal and Rajinikanth. "Their friendship that grew over the years has only got stronger with time!," tweeted Lyca.

This is the first time Rajinikanth is taking part in the promotions for a Kamal Haasan movie after a long time. It's worth noting that a couple of decades ago, Rajinikanth and Kamal often endorsed each other's work and took part in the events that were held to mark the success of their respective films.

However, for a long time, the two pillars of Tamil cinema didn't extend that courtesy to each other. They came together last year to promote director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: 1, where they shared their unsuccessful attempt to capture the sprawling imagination of iconic writer Kalki's epic five-volume novel into a single movie. 

While their public appearances together have been rare, their mutual support has remained strong behind the scenes. Rajinikanth hosted Kamal and director Lokesh Kanagaraj at his residence following the massive success of Vikram last year. Kamal phoned Rajinikanth to congratulate him on the success of Jailer earlier this year. 

In the meantime, Indian 2 is now in the post-production phase. It's a follow-up movie to Shankar's 1996 blockbuster Indian. In the sequel, Kamal reprises his role as the iconic 'Indian thatha', a lone crusader against corruption.

Indian 2 also stars Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha and Guru Somasundara among others. 

Indian 2 is expected to arrive in cinemas early next year.
