Kamal Haasan, who was recently seen in Kalki 2898 AD, which is currently running in theatres, is busy promoting his upcoming film, Indian 2. The multi-faceted actor is currently touring India to promote the film. Indian 2 is directed by S Shankar and set to hit theatres on July 12.
Kamal Haasan recently revealed in conversation with Pinkvilla that he will not only be reprising his role as Senapathy in the film but will also be playing Senapathy’s father. Kamal Haasan said, “I am also playing Senapathy's father, who is not there this time and you have to wait. That is the hook for Indian 3. Now you will understand why I took up Indian 2 because I was waiting for the dessert and I have to go through the main course.”
For the uninitiated, in the 1996 film Indian, Kamal Haasan plays the dual characters of a father and son. The film revolves around a former freedom fighter named Senapathy, who turns into a vigilante to get rid of corruption in society. The film ends with Senapathy showing no prejudice and killing his own son, who indulges in bribery. With the second part focusing on Senapathy’s journey, the makers have also shot the third part, which will have portions revolving around Senapathy’s father, played by Kamal. Indian is available for streaming on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium.
Indian 2 is directed by Shankar and also stars Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore and Deepa Shankar, among others.
Anirudh Ravichander has replaced AR Rahman (who composed the music for Indian) to score music for the upcoming installment. Indian 2 is backed by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. Before the film releases, revisit Indian on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium.
