The team of director Shankar's Indian 2 is currently in Johannesburg, South Africa for an extensive action-packed 12-day schedule. Now, the director himself has dropped a picture from South Africa and has provided an update about the film. In the picture, Shankar is seen walking on the road and on both his sides, flowers are in full bloom. He added that they are on the path of the film's schedule in the African nation. His caption read, "On the path of completing our schedule here in South Africa, and it’s looking #indian2 (sic).
Kamal Haasan, too, has been regularly providing updates from the film's set. He dropped a series of pictures during the Taiwan schedule and recently shared pictures from South Africa as well. One of the pictures, in which he is seen flying an aircraft, playing a bowl and strutting around the nation armed with his camera, are all doing the rounds on the internet. The last among the pictures was Kamal Haasan with the team behind the look of his iconic character Senapathy. He captioned the picture, 'Senapathy Army'.
Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 film Indian, which starred Kamal Haasan in a dual role, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Goundamani and Senthil. One of the characters, Senapathy, an ex freedom fighter, gained cult status after the film's release. The sequel will have Kamal Haasan reprising the character, and the star cast will include Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Samuthirakani to name a few.
Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander and the composer will be reusing some tunes from the original. While the cinematography is by R Rathnavelu and Ravi Varman, editing is by A Sreekar Prasad. Indian 2 is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies and is likely to hit screens in the second half of the year.
