Imran Khan says he ‘lived long in darkness’ months after separating from Avantika Malik; thanks fans for showering love

Imran Khan, a popular Bollywood actor who rose to fame with movies like Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (released in 2008) and I Hate Luv Storys (2010), recently confirmed that he will soon make a comeback in the film industry. He was last seen on the big screen in the 2015 movie Katti Batti.

After confirming this development, 40-year-old Imran Khan expressed in detail today why he was absent from the public sphere. “Sorry about the silence... when you have lived so long in darkness, the sunshine can feel unbearably bright at first. I have been flooded with so many messages of love, support, and encouragement that it felt weird,” he wrote on Instagram.

Imran Khan had depression?

Soon after this cryptic post surfaced online, some fans of the actor strongly felt that the Bollywood actor was diagnosed with clinical depression and has healed now. Here’s why the fans felt it.

“And then a funny thing happened. There I was, poking and slicing away trying to feel 'normal', but somehow the edges of the words seemed less sharp... the tips less pointy. They weren't drawing blood the way they used to. They just didn't work anymore. And I think I know why,” wrote Imran Khan on Instagram.

Imran Khan divorced Avantika Malik?

In March this year, Imran Khan separated from his wife Avantika Malik.

Avantika had taken to Instagram and shared a video of Miley Cyrus dancing to one of her songs, with a caption that reads, “divorce was the best thing for her”. They both were childhood friends and tied the knot in 2011. Their daughter Imara was born in 2014. However, they reportedly parted ways in 2019 and have been living separately since then.

For the uninitiated, Imran is the nephew of actor Aamir Khan and director-producer Mansoor Khan, and the grandson of director-producer Nasir Hussain.
