Imran Khan now discusses mental health with Aamir Khan

On Be A Man Yaar season 2, Imran revealed that he was not in the environment where he could discuss mental health with his uncle, Aamir Khan. It is to be noted that Imran-Aamir's collaborations are his most loved movies, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na as well as Delhi Belly. So, while films were openly discussed when they got together, mental health was not a topic they touched, till now. Imran told News18 Showsha that it was Ira Khan who initiated the conversation, which helped both Aamir and Imran open up and meet to discuss mental health. "In our family, we’re trying to support each other in our mental health journeys," Imran, who underwent therapy to be there for his daughter Imara, shared.

Imran Khan on changing cinema

Imran Khan, apart from Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana, is one of those actors who made a green flag popular even before it became a gen Z term. Looking at the cinema today, the actor is proud of the changing scenario. "Over the past twenty years or so, our cinema has really started to come of age," he said, explaining that there are positive portrayals of men, women, and beyond now as compared to in the past. "Today, we’re talking about queer identity in our movies," he added.

Commercial cinema still lacking

Imran Khan also pointed out how mainstream cinema was still focused on the restricted portrayal of men and women. "Historically, mainstream cinema leaned into very restricted and stereotypical portrayals of masculinity and femininity," he mentioned, adding that the mainstream cinema is still quite heavy on the retro portrayal. Nonetheless, the actor remained optimistic about a change happening sooner or later.
