Uniquely, the government of another country supports IFFM, making it the most important Indian film festival held outside of India. The festival highlights the many styles and traditions of Indian filmmaking to an international audience.
Kartik's meteoric rise to fame thanks to a series of critically acclaimed films makes him a fitting honoree for this year's ceremony. His ability to switch gears as an actor and strike an emotional chord with an audience has been on full display in his many successful projects.
The actor will go down for an interview with Rajeev Masand following the ceremony. His amazing rise from obscurity to Hollywood superstardom will be the subject of this roundtable conversation. His meteoric rise and the obstacles he overcame to reach this point will make for compelling storytelling.
In addition, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will be showing several of Kartik Aaryan's films as part of the festivities so that festival-goers can appreciate his brilliant acting on the big screen. His latest hit, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and the top Hindi film of 2022, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, will be featured in the schedule.
When asked about his appearance at IFFM 2023, Kartik remarked that he is profoundly honoured and grateful to the Victorian Government and the festival for this distinguished prize and humbled to be acknowledged at the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It's an honour beyond words to be singled out for his contributions to Indian film. Kartik has always had faith in the transformative potential of film and the art of narrative. He hopes they can share in the wonder of filmmaking this time.
The festival's director, Mitu Bhowmick Lange, has commented on the important occasion, saying that they are happy to commemorate Kartik during the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. He has won acclaim all over the world, but particularly Down Under, for the variety and excellence of his performances. His work with young people in Indian cinema has been groundbreaking.
