Ranbir Kapoor has reunited with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 17 years. The actor made his Bollywood debut with Bhansali's film Saawariya in 2007. Although Ranbir's first film didn't work well, the actor delivered several hit movies later. Cut to 2024, Ranbir will be seen in SLB's upcoming directorial venture, Love & War. Months after the film was announced, Kapoor has now opened up about reuniting with the acclaimed filmmaker.
At the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2024), Ranbir Kapoor expressed excitement about working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. "I am extremely excited to go back to sets with him. He is my godfather. Everything I know about films, everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him. So, for me, I am working with him again after 17 years, it still feels the same. I am still in awe of him. I respect him so much," said Ranbir, according to Mid-Day,
Kapoor added that the filmmaker is still as obsessed with movies, his stories, and characters as he was when they worked on the 2007 film Saawariya. The actor mentioned that SLB hasn't 'changed' at all.
"He is extremely hardworking, all he thinks about is his movies, he just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something different. So I am extremely excited," he shared. The actor will be seen alongside his wife and actress Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the film.
Love & War marks Ranbir's on-screen reunion with Alia after their 2022 film Brahmastra. He will also share screen space with Vicky after their 2018 film Sanju.
On the work front, Ranbir has exciting projects lined up. He is a part of filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part 1 and 2, which will be released in 2026 and 2027, respectively. Besides these films, the actor has Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal Park lined up.
