Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep was the chief guest at the recent trailer launch of V Ravichandran’s Drishya 2, which is no surprise, given that the duo shares an amazing rapport. Ravichandran has often said that Sudeep is like his eldest son. Their personal relationship has also spilt into the professional space, with the two collaborating as and when it is possible.

Speaking at the recent event in Bengaluru, Ravichandran said, “I wanted Sudeep to be at the trailer launch. The thing about me and Sudeep is that I don’t ever invite him to my events; I order him to be there. He always obliges and makes sure to do the same with me, every time he has an event for his films. That’s the kind of love and affection we have for each other. It’s not something that can be expressed in words. Sudeep is like a family member and I love him. In fact, when he walked into the venue, he looked at me said that I look smart, so I retorted that it’s because I am his father (laughs). So, I am smart for you.”

Talking about the Drishya franchise, the Crazy Star said, “Seven years ago, two films changed my image in the Kannada film industry. One was Maanikya, directed by my ‘son’ Sudeep and the other was Drishya. For Maanikya, Sudeep was a little scared to approach me to do his father’s role, given that I was still playing hero at the time. I did and that character changed things around for me. Similarly, in Drishya, I played a father’s role and the rest, as they say, is history. P Vasu and I are destined to be together; he’s played a major role in giving me characters that gave my career a fillip.”

Drishya 2, which also stars Navya Nair, Anant Nag, Pramod Shetty, Asha Sharath, Prabhu and Aarohi Narayan in pivotal roles, is slated for release in theatres on December 10. The film is the Kannada remake of the Malayalam flick, Drishyam 2.
