If you are in the mood for a neo-noir in Tamil, Idi Minnal Kadhal might just fit the bill. The film is all set to have its digital premiere on Aha Tamil on April 26.
Idi Minnal Kadhal, which translates to fight, thunder and love, Ciby in the lead role. Ciby became a household name after participating in the popular Tamil reality TV show, Bigg Boss Tamil season 5. He is also known for playing a supporting role in the director Lokesh Kanagaraj's blockbuster Master, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role.
However, Ciby's role in Vanjagar Ulagam, which marked his debut as a lead actor, holds his best performance to date. Similar to the 2018 crime thriller, his latest movie Idi Minnal Kadhal also ticks all the boxes of a neo-noir film.
Another highlight of the cast of Idi Minnal Kadhal marks the big-screen comeback of Yasmin Ponnappa. She made her big screen debut with the 2010 movie Aaranya Kaandam. The film didn't receive its due when it was released more than a decade ago. However, it has since developed a cult following, thanks to its easy availability for streaming.
In Aaranya Kaandam, Yasmin played the role of a quintessential femme fatale. She seems to essay similar tole in Idi Minnal Kadhal too.
Based on the trailer, Idi Minnal Kadhal, written and directed by Balaji Madhavan, seems to revolve around a couple trying to get away with a hit-and-run case. Chiby's Haran and Bhavya Trikha's Janani run over a man in the middle of the night. The accident seemingly has no witness, giving the couple ample opportunity to get away with the crime. However, the plot thickens, when the couple get involved with the son of their victim, luring them into a web of deceit, lies and secrets.
