After impressing audiences with his terrific performance in Kishkindha Kaandam, Asif Ali dons the role of a cop in Rekhachithram. The Rekhachithram trailer showed Asif Ali striving to find the truth as corpses are recovered in the film which promises the perfect blend of suspenseful plot and intriguing characters. Anaswara Rajan too stars in a lead role, but her character is shrouded in mystery, and we need to wait till January 9 to know whether and how she is connected to the deaths. The film also features Manoj K Jayan, Pauly Valsan, and Indrans in key roles.
Release date - January 10, 2025
Anaswara Rajan seems to be on a roll as the young actress is getting back-to-back releases in January 2025 with Ennu Swantham Punyalan premiering in theatres a day after Rekhachithram. Directed by Mahesh Madhu, Ennu Swantham Punyalan also stars Arjun Ashokan and Balu Varghese. But unlike the intense Rekhachithram, Ennu Swantham Punyalan seems to be an entertainer with elements of fantasy and comedy.
Release date - January 16, 2025
Suraj Venjaramoodu and Joju George, who have been able to carve a niche for themselves in the Malayalam industry with their remarkable performances and versatility, are joining forces for Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal. The film, touted to be an intense family drama, will narrate the tale of the three sons of a Malayali household. Alencier Ley Lopez, Thomas Mathew, Gargi Ananthan, and Sajitha Madathil also feature in key roles.

Basil Joseph has been making waves lately after he scripted yet another success with Sookshmadarshini which also stars Nazriya Nazim. The actor-filmmaker will be seen as a cop in Pravinkoodu Shappu who is out to find the truth after a death is reported at a toddy shop. With a bunch of oddball characters led by Soubin Shahir and Cheman Vinod, the film seems to have weaved an intriguing plot with a good measure of comedy.
Release date – January 30, 2025
We have several reasons to cheer for Thudarum, starring Mohanlal. The movie marks the first collaboration between the Malayalam superstar and Tharun Moorthy who made a confident debut with Operation Java. The film also stars Shobana, reuniting the iconic and much-loved onscreen pair. Mohanlal-Shobana have enthralled audiences with several blockbusters such as Thenmavin Kombath in the glorious 90s and we are eagerly awaiting them to create magic onscreen together, under the aegis of a new-age filmmaker.
