What did it take to get them back safe? This is the story of those 7 days. A story of resilience, mayhem, skill and tact. Based on true events - IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is coming soon, only on Netflix!"
It is to be noted that Hindi Medium director Saket Chaudhry was supposed to direct this show; he was then replaced by Kabir Khan. However, he turned down the show for unknown reasons, and now it has been directed by Anubhav Sinha.
On December 24, 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814 was taken over and sent to Kandahar in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. The flight was travelling to New Delhi from Kathmandu. The passengers and crew of the flight suffered for seven days after the hijack. After a lot of struggle, the people were brought back home safely. IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is the account of those seven days that became the longest hijack in Indian history.
