What happened at the real Kandahar Hijack?

In 1999, an Indian aircraft IC 814 was hijacked on its way from Nepal to Delhi by a group of five masked Pakistani militants. After ordering the flight to be taken to multiple locations, they eventually demanded to land in Kandahar, then controlled by the Taliban. The terrorists demanded the release of three terrorists in exchange for the release of more than 150 people. This hijack is considered to be the longest to date.
