Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, a romantic drama produced by actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios, marked the directorial debut of Chandrajith Belliappa, a trusted member of the banner’s writing team, Seven Odds. The film, which released in theatres on September 6, in direct competition with Thalapathy Vijay’s The G.O.A.T and began its box office journey on a modest scale with only about 40-odd screens.
However, based on the positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, the demand for the film picked up over the days. The team has not revealed if the theatrical run covered the film’s budget of Rs 6 crore, but the fact that they got the film on Amazon Prime Video, where it has managed a streaming milestone within a week, is commendable. According to the makers, Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali, which came on Prime Video for Kannada Rajyotsava and Deepavali, has registered over 2 crore streaming minutes in the week that it has been available on the platform.
In fact, since the film dropped on OTT, the response to the film has, yet again, been largely positive, with many rueing not having caught it when it was in theatres. There were the odd comments about the pacing issues in the film, but by and large, audiences have been hailing Rakshit’s production as must-watch, feel-good cinema.
Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali revolves around hero Siddharth Ashok (Vihan), who is set to marry Radha (Mayuri Nataraja), but then decides against going through with it because his heart is not in it. Sid, as he is known, still holds a torch for Anahita (Ankita Amar), a girl he’d met in college and has not been in touch with for several years. He decides to find her and figure out if she has moved on or if there’s still hope for them. What happens when he eventually meets her is what the film is about.
