Actor-martial artist Vidyut Jammwal is ready to release the much-awaited spy-thriller IB71. Helmed by National Award-winning director Sankalp Reddy and Lee Whittaker, the film’s plot is set around the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Vidyut - who is also co-producing the movie - plays the lead character in it, with actors Anupam Kher, Dalip Tahil, Niharica Raizada, Danny Sura, Vishal Jethwa, Mir Sarwar and Ashwath Bhatt narrating pivotal characters. IB71 is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 12.
Often hailed as an action hero, Vidyut is known for his performance in movies like Junglee, the Commando film series, Baadshaho and Khuda Haafiz. Over the years, he has also worked in Tamil and Telugu industries.
While speaking at the trailer launch of the upcoming spy-thriller in Mumbai earlier today, the actor opened up about being typecast and why he prefers working with like-minded people. “In the beginning when you become an actor and if you do not belong to a certain parampara, the first thing you do is break that parampara. Then, you start doing things that come your way. For instance, you get three film offers and you need to decide which one to pick. There is also a possibility that you may not like any of these movies. But you continue to put in your efforts, and eventually you start receiving the love and appreciation from people,” said Vidyut.
Adding to that, the actor said, “Then, comes a time when you have the responsibility to choose the best for you from, say, 10 options available. I think I am at that stage now. Parampara ka pata nahin, but I now pick projects that instinctively feel right and where I get to work with people whom I like. One thing that I have done for myself personally ever since I have started my own production house is that I am working with some very good people, those whom I like.”
IB71 is also supported by Abbas Sayyed, Aditya Shastri, Aditya Chowksey and Shiv Chanana.
