Hoichoi’s latest web series Mouchaak is gearing up for its release. Ahead of its premiere, OTTplay got in touch with Bengali film and Television actress Monami Ghosh, who is making her debut in web series with the show.
Monami, who plays the role of Mou Boudi in the series, is sure that anybody in her place would have taken up the role. She further clarified that Mou is actually different from Jhuma Boudi of Dupur Thakurpo 2, among other things.
Excerpts from the interview:
What made you pick the project?
I think anybody in my place would have done Mouchaak. It is my web debut and I wanted to do something memorable.
What was your first thought when you heard the script of Mouchaak?
I was actually skeptical about a lovemaking scene in the series. Eventually though, I got over it and took the project. I’m glad I did because the script is entertaining and my role is very interesting.
What was your reaction after seeing the trailer?
(Laughs) I knew something interesting was going to happen with the trailer release and that (is) exactly (what) happened. I was very happy about the first poster itself.
You have worked in films and TV. How were they different from working on the web?
Shooting for a web series is very different from shooting for a TV show. When it comes to TV, you are sure to shoot for it for 3-4 years. Web series, on the other hand, wraps up in 10-15 days.
What has your debut web experience been like?
Really good. My character is truly experimental. Nobody has seen me as someone like Mou Boudi. I have never played a character like her before.
How did you prepare for Mou Boudi?
There wasn’t much to prepare, but there were a few words which had to be precise so I had to keep that in mind while doing those scenes.
Does Mou Boudi have any resemblance with Jhuma Boudi from Dupur Thakurpo 2?
(Laughs) Mou is a completely different character. There are no similarities between the two. People think they are ‘bhabhi’ but they are different.
What was the brief given to you for the accidental death scene and what was going on in your mind then?
The two people (Mou and her sexual partner) fight and a push kills the man. That scene wasn’t as difficult for me as it would be for the actor. I say this because he had to fall down at the right spot and show that he was injured to the extent that he died.
You also had to cry after the scene. Did you recollect your personal experience for that scene?
The character was shocked. Soon after the accidental death, she was brainstorming about how to get out of that situation. That’s it.
What are your upcoming projects?
I do have a web series offer but I’m only focused on Mouchaak at the moment.
