Shoojit Sircar is one of the most loved directors in the industry and everyone's a fan of his work. He has made films like Piku, October, Sardar Udham Singh, and more, and audiences have loved watching them on the big screens. Recently, in November 2024, his film I Want To Talk was released in theatres. It starred Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. Shoojit Sircar talks about I Want To Talk's box office failure

Recently, the ace director spoke to NDTV and revealed his state of mind after the Abhishek Bachchan starrer flopped. He admitted that he was 'disoriented' as he didn't understand why the audience didn't go to the theatres. He also claimed now that the film is out on OTT, he has been receiving praise. Sircar said, "I want to make films as long as I can make them on my terms and with the vision I have. And sometimes, it disturbs you. I was completely disoriented because I did not know what exactly did or did not work in terms of audiences going to the theatre. But now, the film is also on OTT, and I see a lot of people reacting to it. It is very difficult for me to explain. But yes, box office collection disturbs you."

The film managed to collect Rs 1.95 crore net in India, while it made Rs 2.3 crore worldwide. 

Shoojit Sircar on receiving appreciation from Amitabh Bachchan

Shoojit Sircar shares a deep bond with Amitabh Bachchan. The actor-director duo has worked in movies like Piku and Gulabo Sitabo. In the same interview, Shoojit revealed that while making I Want To Talk, he did speak to Big B. He added, "Yes, I spoke to Mr Bachchan. He appreciated the film and told me, 'You do what you are good with, Shoojit. I am happy that you could make the film the way you wanted to.' He had also shared his blessings on social media."

Where to watch I Want To Talk on OTT?

I Want To Talk featured Abhishek as Arjun Sen. The story revolves around his relationship with his daughter. But things change for them as he is suddenly diagnosed with the last stage of laryngeal cancer, and is given an ultimatum of 100 days to live. The film recently made its debut on OTT. It is available to watch on Prime Video.
