Amid the fast-paced marketing buzz, in-your-face promotions, and loud controversies came a movie that made us pause. The last couple of months of 2024 were made somewhat fruitful by it because the movie was about the relationships one shares with loved ones, their body, and their mental state. We are indeed talking about Shoojit Sircar's much-loved I Want To Talk, which was released on the big screen on November 22, 2024. The movie, about a man who has assembled himself metaphorically and literally, is a beautiful reminder to hold everyone you love close because you never know when the clock starts ticking your last countdown. The film has now been released on Amazon Prime Video. Below is how you can watch it.
The official synopsis of the movie on Amazon Prime Video summarises I Want To Talk as: Arjun doesn't love to talk, he lives to talk & is living the 'American Dream'; until he is told that he has only 100 days left to live! He finds himself wanting only two things: to spend whatever time he has with his 7-year-old estranged daughter and to simply survive. How this eccentric man manipulates his way forms the story of I WANT TO TALK, an intrinsically true-to-life 'daughter-father' story.
Starring Abhishek Bachchan in the leading role alongside Johnny Lever and Ahilya Bamroo, it is written by Shoojit Sircar with Ritesh Shah. The film has been the talk of the town for a long while and is finally hitting the big screen. It was already confirmed that after the theatrical run is wrapped up, the movie would start streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Turns out it has now begun its streaming journey on the platform. I Want To Talk is now out on rent on Prime Video, and you can buy it. You can access it with or without a yearly subscription to the platform after paying the rent.
Once paid, the movie will be available to stream for 30 days and for 48 hours once you start streaming. However, there is no confirmation on when the movie will leave the rental pool and become available for streaming with a subscription. Shoojit Sircar's last two directorials, Gulabo Sitabo and Sardar Udham, are on the same streaming platform.
As per Hindustan Times, talking about casting Abhishek Bachchan in I Want To Talk, Shoojit Sircar said, "Abhishek and I met in Melbourne, Australia. He took me out to dinner one night, and we talked for 3-4 hours... During our conversation, Abhishek opened his heart to me, and I could see his mother's (Jaya Bachchan) innocence in his eyes... When I was shooting for the first time (for the film) with him, it was a silent shot, and I could see the purity and innocence deep within him. I wanted the same warmth, which I got in Abhishek."
Calling it Abhishek's best project, he added, "This would be his best film, in my opinion, and I will keep it on the top... bahut si jagah par Irrfan (Khan) waale moments create kiye hai (He gave a lot of Irrfan-like moments in the film). After watching the film, you will realise what he has done through his eyes in silence. His performance is outstanding."
I Want To Talk releases on November 22, 2024, on the big screen. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
