French actress and model Eva Green has come out in support of Johnny Depp, her costar in the 2012 film 'Dark Shadows'. Depp is currently embroiled in a high-profile defamation trial that began in the second week of April and is expected to conclude on May 27. While the entire world awaits a verdict on the rather sensitive matter, Eva Green has sided with Johnny Depp in her recent social media post wherein she gave strength to him through her words.
"I have no doubt Johnny will emerge with his good name and wonderful heart revealed to the world, and life will be better than it ever was for him and his family," wrote Green in her post as she shared an old picture of the two. Depp and Green were costars in Tim Burton's fantasy-comedy-horror film 'Dark Shadows' in which the latter played Angelique "Angie" Bouchard, a vengeful witch who ploys against Depp's 18th-century vampire Barnabas Collins. Eva Green is among the few celebrities who have voiced their stance with respect to the trial as many have remained mum so far. Many supporters of Johnny Depp have thanked and lauded Eva Green for her support in the comments section.
Johnny Depp filed a $50 million defamation suit against his former wife Amber Heard after she implied in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed that she has been a survivor of domestic abuse. Although she did not take Depp's name explicitly, the implication meant that he was involved which led to the situation blowing up beyond control at the time. Following that, Johnny Depp was fired from Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in which he played the super popular Jack Sparrow. He was later removed from the 'Fantastic Beasts' films as well.
As far as the ongoing trial is concerned, both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have already taken the stand but according to the recent reports, the former is likely to be called back by Amber Heard's defense team on May 23. The defense, reportedly, can be expected to rest their case sometime next week. Depp, so far, has claimed that he has never been physically abusive towards his former wife.
