Story:

Jungkook filmed his moments when promoting his first ever music album, Golden, in the US. It was when Jungkook was touring, that he knew that he had to enlist in the South Korean military, so the tour was literally moments before he went on a hiatus with the other BTS members. Jungkook and Jimin enlisted and are serving together at this point. Jungkook’s film I Am Still is now available in docu-series and relive the moments to his ‘Golden’ success.

Review:

Like David Stewart says, Jungkook has 'got the feels, one which you either have or don't have.' Jungkook is one of a kind, so all that you get with him is special, including his docu-series, I Am Still: The Original. It is nothing short of delight for Jungkook stans.

This one brings the movie in the form of a documentary. While the film's focus was on his cute side, here it is more about his professional side. Of course, with it comes JK's cute side too.

Jungkook's biggest concerts, especially around the Times Square, is the highlight here. His journey in the car continues, and the documentary takes place after Jin got admitted in the military on December 2022, when BTS came to a hiatus, leaving ARMY heartbroken.

Episode 1, Departure, is literally about Jungkook's departure from Korea to US. The journey in Los Angeles begins. Jungkook is seen recording Seven with Latto. Of course, the cultural differences and Jungkook adapting to Latto's working style is one journey you want to go through.

The series does not come without censorship (at least initially) but those who know, know. The moments explored in the film are almost brief in the docu-series. This one is about what went on in his mind during his practice and what he feels about his album - that it is his debut and not comeback.

Jimin and Jungkook's moment, missed in Are You Sure!?, is here. The two go twinning, which is the cutest thing in the series.

Like ARMYs across the world, Jungkook was also counting down to the release of his MV of Seven, and it is the hottest moment waiting for you. Imagine Jungkook look cute and in a split second, he’s shirtless. Yes, that’s the JK you missed since his enlistment, but he’s here and how!

Most moments from the movie I Am Still get covered in the first episode itself. The next two are all about Jungkook The Artist while he is working, and knows how to combine work with fun. Eventually, we get to see the moment where the artist and his fans are one, as they sing the song in sync.

The last episode is about the moment of reality - where JK had to trim his hair right before enlisting in the military. His feelings about it all are explored, and the one last memorable single he gave his fans before enlisting - Standing Next To You with Usher - is in the focus. Emotions run high but at the same time, they are supressed in the episode.

The third episode sees Jungkook's other side - one where he is hard on himself. He behaves like a cute little baby that ARMY love even then, but the moment is just as heartbreaking. The show comes a full circle, since the performance with began with Times Square, ends with it too. Of course, all of his BTS members as well as ARMY get a special mention. And with it, JK is ready to make his debut all over again once he’s out of the military.

Verdict:

I Am Still: The Original feels like a warm hug for Jungkook stans. If you thought his movie, I Am Still, is special, this one takes it a notch above. Even though there’s a lot of warmth with the cute and sexy Jungkook all in once, there’s also slight heartbreak because those were some moments when he was asking his fans to wait for him while he completes his military service. Jungkook held back his emotions for ARMY, and those are the few moments which will leave you hurt for a while. Overall, the docu-series is an experience you do not wish to miss out on.
