Since his debut as a director, Vineeth Sreenivasan has been termed as a filmmaker who knows the pulse of his audience. With superhits such as Malarvadi Arts Club, Thattathin Marayathu, Thira and Jacobinte Swargarajyam under his belt, it’s hard to argue that. His movie, Hridayam, is his most ambitious and challenging project yet.
Starring Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran in the lead, the movie is a multi-starrer that has Vineeth collaborating with the actors for the first time ever. Hridayam also marks the comeback of Merryland Cinemas, with Visakh Subramaniam relaunching the iconic production banner with the movie.
What is Hridayam’s story?
The movie revolves around the life of Pranav’s character Arun during his college years till his marriage. The film is divided into two chapters in Arun’s life with his romance with Darshana (Darshana Rajendran) dominating one half, while his years with Nithya (Kalyani Priyadarshan) being showcased in the latter. It’s also about how the past experiences of Arun has shaped his personality and life thereafter.
Is Hridayam a musical?
Hridayam has 15 songs, composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The movie marks the first collaboration of the director and composer. Vineeth’s previous movies had Shaan Rahman as its music director. During the audio launch of Hridayam, Vineeth stated that the music of the film was very integral to the movie. The film’s songs were rendered by a host of talents including KS Chithra, Job Kurian, Arvind Venugopal, Srinivas, Unni Menon, Sachin Warrier, Bhadra Rajin, Megha Josekutty, Vimal Roy, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Vineeth, Divya Vineeth, Darshana and Hesham.
When and where to watch Hridayam?
Hridayam has been one of the most-awaited films from Mollywood for over two years now. While the pandemic has delayed its release, the movie hit theatres on January 21, 2022. Vineeth and Visakh had insisted that the film had always been planned as a theatrical release and that’s why despite the massive offers from OTT platforms, the makers opted against a digital release.
The film will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on February 18.
