How did romance brew between Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh on the sets of Ram Leela? Gulshan Devaiah recalls an incident

On November 15 this year, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela – a blockbuster film – will clock 10 years since its inception. This romantic drama, directed by ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, featured actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.

Ahead of the 10th anniversary celebrations, actor Gulshan Devaiah – who played a supporting role in the film – has made some interesting revelations about the cast of the film. The actor has spilled beans on how the romance brewed between Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh on the sets of the romantic drama.

While many reports often believed that the romance between the most adorable and well-established couple started on the sets of this romantic drama, Devaiah has now fuelled such reports by saying that Ranveer was head over heels in love with Deepika since the onset of the shoot.

The celebrity couple is now happily married since 2018. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Devaiah said, “We didn’t notice anything during the first schedule, but during the second schedule, I was in Udaipur, and I saw her (Deepika) sitting in his (Ranveer) lap. I was like, when did this happen? She used to quietly come and do her job and leave, we’d shot two or three song sequences as well, but we noticed nothing.”

Gulshan continued, “I think Ranveer was smitten by her right from the beginning. This I don’t know for sure, but from what I remember, he was very smitten by her right from the beginning. I think jee-jaan laga ke pursue kiya hoga (he must have pursued her really hard).”

The supporting cast of the film also included a marvellous bunch of talented stars namely, Supriya Pathak, Richa Chadha, Sharad Kelkar, Barkha Bisht Sengupta, and Abhimanyu Singh. Priyanka Chopra Jonas also made a cameo appearance in the song "Ram Chahe Leela" - which too became a chartbuster in the year 2013.
