House of the Dragon (Showmax)
HBO has renewed House of the Dragon for a second season, which premiered its first episode on August 21. The Game of Thrones prequel series takes place 127 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. The show follows the unfolding drama that threatens to tear the kingdom apart as members of the Targaryen family compete for the iron throne. The show is significant because of the direct involvement of author George R R Martin, who later expressed his dissatisfaction with the Game of Thrones series finale.
The ensemble cast includes Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, and Paddy Considine. The decision to renew it for another season could be attributed to the positive response to the first episode. Miguel Sapochnik, who directed many Game of Thrones episodes, including the Emmy-winning Battle of the Bastards, will return to direct the prequel series.

As her political opponents close in on her, Rani faces an even more formidable challenge from Bheem (Sohum Shah), her husband and former state chief minister. Maharani is loosely based on Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav's lives. Subhash Kapoor created the series. Subhash, Nandan Singh, and Umashankar Singh wrote the new season.
