The world is now witnessing the intense conflict between the Blacks and the Greens as both Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen's sides prepare for war. House of the Dragon Season 2 has captivated us all, and there’s no way we are breaking free anytime soon, at least until the finale rolls around, and probably not even for a long time after that. Fans have been obsessing over everything about the new season of the Game of Thrones spin-off. We have appreciated almost everything and even saw Rhaenyra turning into a Septa, even if only for a few moments. However, one character that the fandom has unanimously despised has to be Ser Criston Cole. A character that started in season one as a charmer has somewhere become the talking point, but not for good reasons.

Ser Criston Cole To Become Relatable?

In case you cannot recall, played by Fabien Frankel, Criston Cole is the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, who was introduced in Season 1 and had a brief affair with Rhaenyra. Soon, he was left heartbroken by one of her decisions, and the character completely took a U-turn. Season 2 has been mainly about the short-sighted, bad decisions that he has been making as the Lord Commander and the new Hand of the King. Last week's episode, which was the third this season, established him as the most selfish character on the show. But now, director Geeta Vasant Patel says he will be relatable. Read on to know how.

The third episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 was directed by Geeta Vasant Patel, who has now spoken about Ser Criston Cole and how, with time, his character will become relatable by the finale of Season 2. As per Screen Rant, she has shared how with Cole, she wanted to insert a POV. His walk towards the council chambers in Episode 3 was intentionally designed so we would feel for him, for once. "A lot of times, the lack of liking someone comes from not being in their point of view," says Patel. “When we’re in that space, we see everything happening at that table. That was one technique to start bringing his dimension out and start building to what’s going to happen in the season finale, where I think you are going to really understand him.” Patel added.

Talking about how Criston Cole will become relatable by the finale of House of the Dragon Season 2, Geeta Vasant Patel said, “He’s a very interesting character by the time you get to the season finale. There’s a lot of things that we will relate to and we will be embarrassed to relate to. What he shares with us in Episode 8 is pretty awesome — we all have a bit of Criston Cole in us. That’s what we’re building. There’s this vulnerability in Episode 3, and then it keeps building from there, and by the time you get to Episode 8, he has this beautiful moment where he shares what he thinks about the world and what he thinks about war.”
