Gaga said that she didn't want to just employ the accent on stage because she wouldn't have been prepared. The actor wanted the accent to seem natural in her body, so it was the last thing on her mind when she was working.

Gaga expressed her desire to "inject humanity" into her alter persona after noticing similarities between herself and Patrizia. She stated that she tried to bring Patrizia's humanity into the character. Gaga also revealed that there's a part of Patrizia that reminds her of herself, in that she wants to be famous, but she also wants to be in charge of the story.
