An impressive array of films awaits Kannada moviegoers in the next few films with the line-up welcoming multiple new voices to the realm.

With the first half of 2023 turning out to be largely underwhelming for the film industry barring a film or two, film pundits and audiences alike are maintaining a keen eye on the remainder of the year. The hope is that the new slate of releases will salvage the repute that Kannada Cinema earned in 2022 with films like KGF 2, 777 Charlie, Kantara, Gandhada Gudi, etc.

The month of July is expected to kick off this good run with two enterprising films already on the cards. Actor Naveen Shankar, having delivered a breakthrough performance earlier this year as the antagonist in Gurudev Hoysala, will return to the big screen as the leading man in Kshetrapathi. The socio-drama directed by Srikant Katagi has piqued the curiosity of the audience with its teaser which presents Naveen as a spirited and dynamic young man who takes it upon himself to tackle the prevailing agrarian issues in North Karnataka.

Although the team hasn't made a formal announcement about the release date of the film, the buzz is that Kshetrapthi will arrive in cinemas on July 21.

Another important release of this upcoming phase is Nithin Krishnamurthy's Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, a comedy-drama that takes place entirely in a boys' hostel. With the cast comprising as many as 300 artists, the film has made a strong impression on moviegoers because of the inventive promotional methods employed by the team. Over the past year or two, the Hostel Hudugaru team has made promo videos with major Kannada superstars such as Puneeth Rajkumar, Kiccha Sudeep, Rakshit Shetty, Rishab Shetty and Ramya to spread the word about the film and also offer a taste of the brand of comedy that the viewers can expect.

If the latest speculations are to be believed, Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare will release in theatres on July 10.

The coming months will see films of varied kinds making their way into theatres with Basil Alchalakkal's Toby starring Raj B. Shetty, Hemanth M. Rao's Sapta Sagaradaache Ello with Rakshit Shetty, Baanadariyalli starring Golden Star Ganesh, Pepe starring Vinay Rajkumar, A.P. Arjun's Martin with Dhruva Sarja, Upendra's UI and Challenging Star Darshan's Kaatera and others being the main highlights of this line-up. Exciting times ahead!
