Horogouri Pice Hotel’s Oishani aka Suvosmita Mukherjee’s new film Ghasjomi had a successful festival round. Directed by Sumantra Roy, the film does not have any so-called Tollywood stars. Along with Suvosmita, Sanjita, Saon Chakraborty, Debasish Chatterjee, Arshi Roy, and others acted in the film. Ghasjomi is produced by Mosaic in Films.
The film delves into the story of two women. It shows how they came in contact through an interview and how it blossoms into a friendship. The film has been shown in 87 film festivals and bagged a number of awards. It centers around two female protagonists having different lives. One is Barna, a 24-year-old girl who studies social anthropology. Her main subject is Bengali housewives. In the course of her research, she met an ordinary Bengali housewife, Ipsita. Ipsita was once involved with theatre, but could not continue due to family pressure. The film tells how Barna will take her back to the theatre, to her dream. It will turn around the course of the story.
The film bagged national awards, too, but it did not release in cinema halls yet. Suvasmita, the protagonist of the popular Star Jalsa serial Horogouri Pice Hotel, debuted in cinema with this film.
Director Sumantra said, “Ghasjomi has bagged 87 awards till now. We aim to win one hundred awards. Hence we will send it to more film festivals. Then we will plan to release it in the halls. However, the audience will be the ultimate judge, no matter how many prizes it gets. The film should be commercially successful. We hope it will be liked by the audience.” The producer of this film got a national award for their previous venture.
