It's official that the 'Hit' franchise is getting bigger at every step. Hit was an action thriller starring Vishwak Sen, Ruhani Sharma in the lead roles in 2020. The makers decided to make a francise out of it, upon the film's success in 2020. Written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu, Hit was bankrolled by Prashanti Tipirneni and presented by Nani under Wall Poster Cinema. The second instalment to Hit, titled Hit: The Second Case, starring Adivi Sesh, Meenakshii Chaudhary, released today.

Hit 2 was a story revolving around a suave cop KD and a psychopath who can't stand women owing to a personal tragedy. While good triumphs over evil in the story, the team surprised audiences by revealing the male lead of the third instalment to the franchise, which is expected to go on floors shortly. Hit 3 will feature Nani in the lead as a no-nonsense cop, cast in the role of Arjun Sarkaar, based in Telangana. The climax of Hit 2 has Nani sharing screenspace with Adivi Sesh at the latter's marriage.

After a bitter-sweet stint at Vizag, Adivi Sesh's KD opts for a transfer to Telangana and here, Nani as Arjun Sarkaar plays his superior. Arjun even takes a dig at KD at his marriage when he notices that the latter's wife is pregnant and says, 'guess you're too fast.' KD as a character gets the taste of his own medicine, while paving the way to Hit 3. While it's official that Nani will take the centrestage in Hit 3, the scope of Adivi Sesh's KD is unknown.

The director Sailesh Kolanu, in most interviews this week, has spoken of his interest to build 7-8 thriller films in the franchise with different leads and bring them all together for a national mission for the finale later. While the idea seems ambitious enough, it remains to be seen if Hit as a franchise would go the distance. Wall Poster Cinema and director Sailesh Kolanu will be the common link to these films. Amazon Prime Video has the OTT rights for both Hit and Hit 2.
