Hit 2 preview: Everything you need to know about Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary’s crime thriller

Hit 2, the crime thriller, written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu, is all set to hit screens across the globe tomorrow. The film brings together Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead and produced by Prashanti Tipirneni and presented by Nani under Wall Poster Cinema. This is the sequel to the hit film Hit: The First Case (a.k.a Hit) starring Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma, also helmed by Sailesh (that was also remade in Hindi with the same title, featuring Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra).

What is the story of Hit 2?

The story of Hit 2 revolves around a cool, suave cop Krishna Dev a.k.a KD, an officer who’s very confident of himself and his ability to solve complex cases. He believes he’s one step ahead of the criminal in cases and calls them ‘pea-brained’. He’s asked by his superiors to investigate the murder of a woman Sanjana. While this initially seems like a one-off case and ‘work’, he is perplexed when he realises that different parts of a woman were mixed with Sanjana’s head. How far would KD go to solve this case? Aarya is the love of his life and the makers have maintained suspense about the significance of the character in the story.

Who are the actors in Hit 2?

While Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary play the lead roles in the film, the supporting cast comprises Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Posani Krishna Murali, Komalee Prasad, Srinath Maganti, Srikanth Iyengar. The film has no similarities with the lead cast of its prequel Hit:The First case, that featured Vishwak Sen, Ruhani Sharma, Chaitanya Sagiraju, Murali Sharma and Bhanuchander in pivotal roles. However, it is expected that all the protagonists of the Hit franchise will reunite for another film in the times to come.

Yes, Hit 2 is a sequel to a hit but more on thematic terms than the plot. Ultimately both films are about a cop facing a personal/professional crisis while dealing with a dangerous criminal at work. Both of the films are essentially thrillers, revolving around officers, their personal lives, murders, investigation and how the case is solved after a lot of hullabaloo. The makers shared that the hint about the killer in Hit 2 was shared with viewers in Hit during the end-credits.

Hit 2 comes with a ‘minimum guarantee’ value, given the names involved with the project. While Sailesh Kolanu has already proved himself as a capable director, Adivi Sesh has always excelled at thrillers and has made the genre his forte. Meenakshi Chaudhary’s on-screen chemistry with Adivi Sesh has helped the film be in the news for the right reasons. The producers in the past have backed several other credible efforts like Awe, Hit: The First Case and Sony LIV’s Meet Cute.

In addition, the strong supporting cast and a talented bunch of technicians, good music, promise a good product at the end of the day. The trailer, promos and the music have been generally received well. Thrillers have been in vogue in the market lately and Hit 2 is just a taut film that viewers wouldn’t mind watching for a dose of the adrenaline this weekend.

Hit 2 has cinematography by S Manikandan and is edited by Garry Bh. While Manisha A Dutt handles production design, the producer Prashanti Tipirneni also takes care of the costumes. John Stewart Eduri has come up with the background score with MM Sreelekha and Suresh Bobbili composing the songs. Sachin Sudhakaran (Sync Cinema) is the sound designer and Krishna Kanth is the sole lyricist for the same. Sunil Rodrigues, Venkat, Naba, Real Sathish are the stunt directors and Raghu is the dance choreographer.

Is Hit 2 a Telugu film?

Hit 2 is a Telugu film, but the makers have announced their plans to dub the film in Hindi soon. The release date is yet to be confirmed.
