Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie Leo is getting ready to hit the screens soon. This will be Vijay's first pan-India release, aligning with the current industry trend of big-budget productions going nationwide.

The producers have been unable to promote the movie as they planned initially. Owing to various circumstances, the on-ground promotions have not begun yet despite only two weeks left for its release. Still, Leo continues to create a lot of buzz solely based on the stardom of Vijay and the growing popularity of director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Leo promotions face delay

Leo has only been limited to online promotions with the producers sharing new posters. And yet, Leo seems to have caught the imagination of the movie-goers in the north.

While the movie-goers in the Hindi heartland have Kannada and Telugu film industries, they are yet to warm to Tamil movies. Kannada blockbusters KGF: Chapter and Kantara, and Telugu hits Pushpa: The Rise and RRR have found tremendous success in the north Indian circuit. The Tamil filmmakers have not yet managed to find a foothold in the north Indian circuit. This has limited the industry's potential to breach the Rs 1000 crore threshold at the global box office.

Leo is awaited in Hindi

However, Leo might give a much-needed break to the Tamil film industry in the Hindi market. According to reports, the movie has managed to generate some interest among the Hindi audience. "#Leo we are getting inquiries for the film..Youth is asking about the film..would urge producers, distributors to send collateral..This #ThalapathyVijay @actorvijay without having anything in #Hindi has excited the audience.. @Dir_Lokesh @7screenstudio," tweeted Vishek Chauhan, a YouTuber, who closely follows the Hindi film industry.

However, it's worth noting that the Hindi version of Leo may not receive a wide release in North Indian states due to contractual obligations with streaming platforms. Reports indicate that multiplex screens are hesitant to screen the Hindi version as it allegedly doesn't comply with the 8-week clause.

Besides Vijay, Leo also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mansoor Ali Khan.
