Higuita OTT release date – Dhyan Sreenivasan’s political drama to begin streaming on this platform

Malayalam film, Higuita, is finally making it to the digital space. The political thriller will be streaming on Saina Play soon. However, the makers have not revealed an exact date of release.

The film includes an ensemble cast of Suraj Venjaramoodu, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Manoj K Jayan, Indrans, Vineeth Kumar and Binu Pappu. It was released on March 31 last year. The film was in the news as N S Madhavan challenged the film's title. NS Madhavan's short story is also named Higuita and the writer argued that the Dhyan Sreenivasan-starrer had taken away his right to make a film based on his short story.

The main character of the movie is Pannyannoor Mukundhan, a Left politician from Malabar, who constantly faces deadly threats. Ayyapa Das, a civil police officer, is deployed as his gunman after joining the police recently. After Das' father passed away, while still in service, he was forced to take on this duty due to the looming financial crisis. The movie was praised for narrating the story of conflicts among people who work close to one another.

Dhyan Sreenivasan’s films on OTT

Varshangalkku Shesham, the actor's most recent movie, was made available for streaming on SonyLIV on June 6. It is likely that the digital streaming service paid a significant amount for the digital rights to the film, considering the excitement that surrounded it. His brother Vineeth Sreenivasan is the director of the movie.

Another Dhyan film Malayalee From India will also be available on the same platform beginning on July 5. Dhyan plays a prominent role in this film. It is reasonable to assume that the film's underwhelming box office performance and the conflicting reviews it received following its theatrical release are what led to the delay in OTT release.
