Hi Nanna actor Nani is confident like never before about his upcoming film, going all out to promote the film across Telugu states and beyond in the past few days. Now, he’ll be heading to the US to attend the premiere of the film this Thursday. Mrunal Thakur, Baby Kiara Khanna essay other crucial roles in the drama written and directed by Shouryuv. The much-awaited film is set to release in five languages.
Meanwhile, in a promotional interview, Nani had an interesting take on how he approaches his projects and script choices. The star said he hasn’t approached any director for collaborations to date and that all films in his career have come his way organically. This was in response to a journalist who wondered why star filmmakers have not teamed with him much in his 15-year-long career.
“Most of the leading Telugu filmmakers are just a call away and share great words of praise whenever my film releases. However, I don’t take their compliment as an excuse to make a project happen with them. I don’t want to force it. Even when I spoke to my idol Mani Ratnam, I only called myself his fan and didn’t even joke about a potential collaboration,” Nani said in a conversation with Great Andhra.
Nani justified that the approach has worked in his favour, how it helped him team up with directors like Gautham Menon, SS Rajamouli, Maruthi in the past. “I am not hellbent on working with young talents, it’s always the script that excites me. I treat everyone with the same respect. If I was so conscious of actor-director combinations, some of my career-best films wouldn’t have materialised,” he added.
Be it Jersey, Ala Modalaindi, Ante Sundariniki, Shyam Singha Roy or even the upcoming Hi Nanna, Nani has always chosen good scripts with filmmakers in their early years and it’s this consistency for over a decade that has made him an audience-favourite. He’ll next be seen in Vivek Athreya’s action drama Saripodha Sanivaaram.
