Akshay Kumar, a commercial storyline, the comedy genre, a solid ensemble cast, lots of drama, and great songs—this combination worked wonders in the 2000s. Akshay was ruling the big screen with back-to-back hits and impeccable comic timing, which made him a favorite for many comedy directors. One of his most loved comedy films from that era is undoubtedly Heyy Babyy. This ensemble drama, featuring him alongside Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, was directed by Sajid Khan and is considered one of his best works. Today, the movie celebrates 17 years since its release, and it's still just as entertaining as it was the first time.
Heyy Babyy was released on August 24, 2007, and starred Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, and Boman Irani, with a special appearance by Shah Rukh Khan. The film was directed by Sajid Khan, with dialogues written by Milap Milan Zaveri. As the movie turns 17, here’s everything you need to know about where you can watch it on streaming, plus a funny trivia tidbit.
Heyy Babyy was a box office hit back in the day, and it continues to be loved on satellite TV. Even on streaming platforms, the Akshay Kumar-led film has maintained a strong recall value. You can watch it on ShemarooMe with your OTTplay Premium subscription. The movie is a laugh riot, and you won’t regret investing your time in it.
One particularly hilarious scene in Heyy Babyy involves a diaper being thrown onto Akshay Kumar’s face. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Milap Milan Zaveri shared some insights: "It’s the most natural thing. A baby is going to poop and urinate. If you see, it was a great moment. Riteish slips, and the diaper goes flying. You think it’ll land on Fardeen’s face. Akshay is like ‘Jaa jaa,’ but it ends up on his face. Akshay sir improvised on the set. He added the lines ‘Matar Paneer,’ indicating that’s what the baby had. He had a blast doing the scene."
The dialogue writer also revealed that the yellow substance that landed on Kumar’s face wasn’t actually poop but something created by the art team. "I don’t remember exactly, but it was a mixture of some food. The art department concocted something. It was obviously not poop!"
