Popular dance choreographer Brinda, who made her debut as a filmmaker with Hey Sinamika, is likely to team up with Vijay Sethupathi next. While there has been no official announcement yet, a source tells OTTplay that the shooting for this untitled film may begin next month. "Brinda met Vijay Sethupathi, and narrated a story to him. Of course, he was impressed by it. But Vijay sir yet to sign on the dotted line," say the source. Hey Sinamika, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal, released in theatres, in March, to mixed reviews.
"A little more care in the screenplay in the latter half and addition of a few unpredictable moments in the climax would have made the movie a completely compelling watch," reads Hey Sinamika's review on OTTplay. Further, the Hey Sinamika review read, "It is the flawless performances of the lead characters, complemented by Preetha Jayaraman's beautiful cinematography, made the viewers glued to the screen. The character of a person who is full of life is a cakewalk for Dulquer. Though his appearance and some mannerisms remind you of a few of his previous films, he comes up with outstanding performance, especially in a crucial scene where he realises that he has been living in an unreal world."
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is awaiting the release of Vignesh Shivn's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which will hit the screens on April 28. The film has Nayanthara and Samantha Ruth Prabhu as leading ladies. Besides, the actor has Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Master fame, and Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan, in the pipeline. For now, Vijay Sethupathi has finished filming an untitled one with director Ponram and is shooting for Merry Christmas, along with Katrina Kaif. The film went on floors in December, last year. Merry Christmas is produced by Tips Industries, in association with Matchbox Pictures Pvt. Ltd. The festive thriller is set to release on December 23, 2022.
