Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram, which was released on June 3, has become the highest grossing film in Tamil Nadu surpassing the box office numbers of Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 in the state. The Kamal Haasan-starrer action flick broke the five-year old record of the gargantuan hit, thus marking a grand comeback which many did not anticipate.

Actor-distributor Udhayanidhi, who bagged theatrical rights of the film, said recently in the success meet that he didn't expect such a huge success though he was sure of the movie's box office performance. He was also the first person to have watched the film apart from the movie crew.

Now, a fan war seems to have erupted between fans of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan on social media. Kollywood media has been hailing Vikram as the new industry hit of Tamil cinema. But Thalaivar fans feel that 2.0, which was released in 2018, had collected around 800 crores, and hence it's not apt to term Vikram as the number one movie.

They opine that though Vikram has grossed the highest collection in Tamil Nadu, the movie is yet to surpass the total collection earned by Rajinikanth-Shankar film from all versions. According to them, 2.0 is still the number one Tamil film at the box office.

The hashtag #2pointO has been trending on Twitter ever since the fan war broke out between fans of the two legendary actors. It is after more than two decades that a Kamal film has emerged number one at Tamil Nadu box office.

Now, all eyes are on Rajinikanth's Jailer which will have Nelson Dilipkumar at the helm. The movie is expected to go on floors in a few months. Meanwhile, even after two weeks of its release, Vikram shows no signs of slowing down.
