Fans of Vijay are looking forward to Pongal as it was announced by makers of Varisu earlier that the film will hit the screens around the festival. The first look posters of the movie were unveiled on the star's birthday on June 22 this year.
Vamshi Paidipally is directing the project which is being bankrolled by veteran producer Dil Raju. Varisu marks the former's first Kollywood movie as a filmmaker though he had directed Thozha (Oopiri in Telugu), a bilingual film, in 2016. The shooting of Varisu is expected to be completed soon and promo stills, songs and videos are likely to be released from next month.
Amid an online fan war happening between fans of Vijay and Suriya on Twitter regarding the release of Varisu, a leading exhibitor has now taken to his Twitter page to reveal that the film will hit the screens on January 13, 2023.
It looks like exhibitors have got confirmation from the production side. But fans are waiting for an official announcement from the makers. It has to be seen if Varisu will have a solo release for the festival. There is speculation of Ajith's AK 61, too, arriving around the festival time.
The Vinoth directorial was supposed to release in theatres during Deepavali this year, but the team is yet to wrap up its shooting. Despite Boney Kapoor confirming about the film hitting the screens this year, it looks like movie buffs have to wait for a few more months for an update about its release.
What has been making team Varisu upset is the constant leak of stills and videos from the shooting location. A short clip from a song sequence featuring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna was the last material which leaked from the movie's location.
