The first teaser of K Madhu’s CBI 5: The Brain, which has Mammootty reprising the role of CBI officer Sethurama Iyer, had already sent fans into a tizzy – thanks to the famous theme music getting a modern twist from composer Jakes Bejoy and the megastar once again returning as the iconic sleuth. Now, the makers are gearing up to share the trailer of the movie, days ahead of its worldwide theatrical release.
Mammootty took to social media late into the night on Thursday to share that the film’s trailer will out on Friday at 5pm. The teaser had earlier hinted what the fifth instalment in the 34-year-old franchise will be based on.
The upcoming movie, which will hit theatres on May 1, will have Sethurama Iyer and his team trying to crack a case that relates to the deaths of Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and unveil the conspiracy behind these. Apart from Mammootty, both Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar will also be returning to the franchise as CBI officers Chacko and Vikram, respectively.
The film, directed by K Madhu and scripted by SN Swamy, also has several new additions to its cast this time. Saikumar and Anoop Menon play police officers in the film, which also has Renji Panicker and Ramesh Pisharody whose characters apparently assist Sethurama Iyer in the investigation. Asha Sharath will be seen playing a lawyer in the film while Dileesh Pothan, who had earlier shared screen space with Mammootty in Bheeshma Parvam, will be essaying the role of Kerala Chief Minister. Malavika Menon and Soubin Shahir will also be seen in crucial role in the movie.
Mammootty’s CBI 5 will clash with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Jana Gana Mana at the Kerala box office, with the latter also set to hit theatres on April 28.
