Aamir Khan took a step back in 2023 after his passion project, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), flopped at the box office. As far as anyone can tell, the superstar will be starting over in the new year. The superstar will return to his role as the lead in filmmaker RS Prasanna's upcoming sports drama, which is scheduled to start filming on January 29, 2024.
RS Prasanna's sports drama and filming schedule
As per reports in Mid Day, the production company has set up a first schedule for shooting in Mumbai and then a second, more extended schedule at a remote site. Officially based on the 2018 Spanish offering Campeones, the production crew is ramping up their pre-shoot preparations for the film. An insider reveals that Prasanna has eagerly awaited the opportunity to kick off the film. The script's development has pleased Aamir. The crew has scheduled the big day for January 29.
The casting is vital since the plot centres on a grumpy coach who changes as he assembles a squad of intellectually disabled players. The team is auditioning hundreds of performers to find the perfect cast for the plot, and Aamir is reviewing them too.
Star cast considerations
Titles and main actors have changed multiple times before filming has even begun on the project. The project, whose working title is Champions, allegedly had offers from Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Farhan Akhtar prior to Aamir's involvement.
While confirming the news, Aamir said at an event, "I have not spoken about it publicly, and I won't be able to say much now either. But I can tell the title. The title of the film is Sitare Zameen Par. You must have remembered my film Taare Zameen Par, and the name of this film is Sitare Zameen Par because we are moving ten steps ahead with the same theme. Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film. This film will make you laugh. That film made you cry; this one will entertain you."
