It looks like after the pandemic, ground promotions for the upcoming releases have caught up in a big way among namma stars. We saw Chiyaan Vikram going on a whirlwind south India promotional tour along with his co-stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mirnalini Ravi and Meenakshi Govind to promote his sci-fi thriller Cobra. The team covered seven cities in a span of a week.

And now, Arya too has followed suit for his recent release, Captain, another fantasy thriller. The actor covered a number of cities in the state as part of the promotions for the film. When OTTplay quizzed the actor if had become essential to do such promotions after the pandemic where most of the audience have become used to the OTT medium and watching movies from the comfort of their homes, he said, "I had done this earlier for Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga. It's fun to go to colleges and interact with students, meet fans, and watch the film's trailer with the audience in a theatre. I think ground promotion always adds more value to the digital promotion."

But at the same time, he says that a good film will run, despite the promotion. "If you have made a good film, it's going to run, no matter if you promote it or not. The idea of promotions is to create awareness about the film. It also shows the confidence you have in the project so much so that you want to promote it. People are used to seeing us actors in Chennai. When you go to other cities, the people here get an opportunity to meet us. It's a great experience for the stars, too.

Arya's recent release, Captain, directed by Shakthi Soundar Rajan had just hit screens on September 8. The film is a fantasy thriller and has Arya playing Captain Vetriselvan, who has to take on some 'creatures'. "Such films are a huge draw among children and we have tried to do our best with the graphics," he had told us.
