After a three-year hiatus, Sai Pallavi returned to Tamil with Gautham Ramachandran's Gargi which was released in theatres last Friday. The movie opened to positive reports from both critics and film lovers alike, thanks to its arresting screenplay and engaging performances from all actors.
The legal drama which touch upon the sensitive topic of sexual abuse has been garnering good response ever since its press show was screened a week ago. Kaali Venkat, RS Shivaji, Saravanan, Jayaprakash and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others play pivotal characters in the movie which is already regarded as one of the best films made in Tamil in recent years.
The film hit the headlines a couple of weeks ago when Suriya announced that his production house 2D Entertainment has bagged its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu. He was all praise for the project's content and appreciated Sai Pallavi, Gautham and the entire team for coming up with an intriguing thriller.
Pallavi reciprocated the gesture by thanking Suriya for lending support to the film's crew. The actress paid a visit to a few theatres in Chennai and Hyderabad, leaving her fans and others surprised. It is said that the positive word of mouth helped Gargi pick up at the box office on the second and third day.
The film is expected to have its digital premiere after a month of its theatrical release. According to trusted sources, Gargi will drop on SonyLIV around August 15. An official announcement related to this is expected soon by the makers.
Govind Vasantha's effective background score in emotional and nail-biting sequences, and a stunning climax are prime highlights of the movie which has been released in Telugu and Kannada, too, under the same title.
