Telugu superstar Prabhas will be sharing screen space with legendary actor Kamal Haasan in his upcoming movie Project K. And he welcomed the legendary actor onboard the project by describing the opportunity to share screen space with him as an "honour."
If you think that Prabhas was just saying that out of courtesy, you will be wrong. About 10 years ago, Prabhas expressed his admiration for Kamal by humbling himself to an extent, where he suggested that he was nobody in front of the towering stature of the movie icon.
"I grew up watching Kamal sir's movies. It's my fortune that I got a chance to be beside him. Probably, he doesn't know who I am. I am Prabhas, sir," Prabhas quipped while promoting Kamal's Vishwaroopam (2013).
"Not just for my generation, Kamal sir is important for the next 10 generations. I don't know how much Kamal sir needs cinema, but I know Indian cinema needs him. He's the greatest actor," he added.
From sharing the stage with his hero to sharing screen space with him, Prabhas' admiration for Kamal has come a full circle.
Director Nag Ashwin surprised everyone by roping in Kamal for his ambitious movie, Project K. Made on a budget of over Rs 600 crore, the movie is one of the most expensive science fiction ever made in Indian cinema. And Kamal's addition to the cast has increased the curiosity surrounding the film.
Speculations are rife that Kamal will be playing the antagonist role in the movie. However, an official confirmation is awaited. If that's true, then Kamal will be breaking the practice of not playing negative roles in movies headlined by other heroes.
Besides Prabhas and Kamal, the movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
Earlier, the filmmakers announced that Project K will release in cinemas in January, coinciding with the celebration of Sankranti. However, with the production still going on, the film is unlikely to release on the said date.
