Here's all you need to know about Shahid Kapoor's film with Anees Bazmee

With the success of his first web series, Farzi, Shahid Kapoor is off to a hectic start in 2023. He finished filming his untitled love drama with Kriti Sanon in the middle of April and is now moving on to Siddharth Roy Kapur's upcoming film, directed by Rosshan Andrrews. After finishing the thriller, the actor will work with Anees Bazmee on a comedy.

As per reports in Mid Day, Dil Raju, the man behind the successful Tamil film Varisu, has scheduled July to go on floors for his next big-budget action comedy. The film's setting in the state of Uttar Pradesh and possibly the neighbouring state of Bihar is integral to the story.

The source told the tabloid that Bazmee began working on the action comedy immediately following the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 late last year. Shahid appreciated the idea and agreed in principle when he saw the filmmaker last year. For the next six months, Anees worked tirelessly on perfecting the comedy. It is not a remake of a South Korean movie, despite what one may have read.

After Jersey, Farzi, and the upcoming Bloody Daddy, Shahid is looking forward to the opportunity to try his hand at a more comedic role as well as to play a dual role in the film. A close confidant of the director says that, in keeping with his style, he has crafted it as a mass entertainer. In the next two weeks, the production team plans to narrow down its search for a leading lady.

Talking about Bloody Daddy, the film is the Hindi remake of the 2011 French film Nuit Blanche, aka Sleepless Night. The film also features Sanjay Kapoor, Rohit Roy, and Diana Penty in pivotal roles. It is set for a direct-to-OTT release on June 9, 2023, on JioCinema. This will be Shahid's second OTT release of the year after his Prime Video series, Farzi.
