Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has teamed up with action maverick Rohit Shetty for his upcoming series, Indian Police Force. However, in a surprising twist, it has been revealed that the actress was approached for the popular comedy franchise Golmaal 14 years ago. Here’s what happened and why she couldn’t do it.

Shilpa Shetty is currently gearing up for the release of her eagerly awaited action OTT series, Indian Police Force, on Amazon Prime Video. And she is occupied with promotional events for the series that is directed by Rohit Shetty and also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi in promising roles. At one such recent event, the actress revealed that she was offered the lead role in one of the Golmaal films nearly 14 years ago, but she couldn’t collaborate with Rohit at the time due to some personal reasons.
Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal is widely loved for its absurd comedy and epic characters. The franchise was led by a highly entertaining ensemble cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, and Tusshar Kapoor.
The 48-year-old actress revealed that she couldn’t be a part of Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal because the offer came immediately after she won the UK reality show Big Brother and she was, therefore, busy travelling at the time.

“We (Rohit and Shilpa) were supposed to work together 14 years ago; he had approached me for Golmaal. But I had just won Big Brother and was travelling and he was doing his things,” she told Bollywood Hungama.
Shilpa later regretted the missed opportunity from the big banner but simultaneously expressed overwhelming emotions at finally being able to collaborate on Indian Police Force.
Shilpa was last seen in the film Sukhee and is gearing up for the release of Indian Police Force, in which she plays the determined and passionate cop, Tara Shetty. During promotional events for the series, Rohit Shetty lauded the actress for her acting craft, as she fractured her leg while filming one key fighting scenes.
Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Shweta Tiwari, Nikitin Dheer, and Sharad Kelkar have pivotal roles in the highly-octane series that will be available to stream on Amazon Prime starting January 19. Indian Police Force revolves around dedicated police officers as they fight crime and put duty above all else.
