Star, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Kavin in the lead role, has already become one of the most-expected projects to be released in May. Directed by Elan, Star marks the second directorial venture for the filmmaker after he had previously helmed romantic drama Pyaar Prema Kaadhal.
If you are waiting for Star release, it is the best time to re watch director Elan debut film. Titled Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, the film is available for streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. The romance drama stars actors Harish Kalyan and Raiza Wilson, who were housemates in the first season of Tamil reality TV show Bigg Boss hosted by Kamal Haasan.

Pyaar Prema Kaadhal released in 2018 in theatres and is produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja who also scored the music. The film revolves around two individuals who come from different walks of lives and beliefs regarding romance and physical intimacy. It takes us through the course of relationship of the lead pair who want different things in life. The film also stars Anand Babu, Rekha, Subbu Panchu, Pandian and others. Pyaar Prema Kaadhal became a commercial success upon its release. The film was remade in Telugu as Urvasivo Rakshasivo with actors Allu Sirish, and Anu Emmanuel. It is available for streaming on Aha and OTTplay Premium.
It is to be noted that Star, Elan’s second film was launched with Harish Kalyan. The makers had also released posters of the actor dressed in the iconic looks of veteran actors from yesteryear blockbusters. However, due to reasons unknown, Kavin came onboard Star. The upcoming film will have music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja once again. It will explore an underdog's rise to be a successful movie star.
Star is set to release in theatres on May 10 and also features Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and others. The film is shot by Dada cinematographer Ezhil Arasu K and edited by Pradeep E Ragav.
