Queen is a period biographical political drama series that is based on Anita Sivakumaran's novel of the same name, which in turn is based on the life of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The series is created by Reshma Ghatala, who wrote it along with Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan. The series stars Ramya Krishnan as the protagonist, Shakthi Sheshadri, a character modelled after Jayalalithaa, with Anjana Jayaprakash and Anikha Surendran portraying the younger versions. Indrajith Sukumaran, Vamsi Krishna, Sonia Agarwal, Lillete Dubey and others are also part of the cast.
The Crown – Netflix
The Crown is an English political drama that focuses on the British monarch, with a special focus on the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The six seasons of the show begin with the timeline when Elizabeth II is crowned Queen of England, her subsequent marriage to Philips, and the 2005 wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. The monarch was portrayed by Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton.
Maharani – SonyLIV
Maharani is a three-season old political drama series with actor Huma Qureshi playing the lead role. The series is created by Subhash Kapoor and is partially inspired by the 1990s events that took place in Bihar after Lalu Prasad Yadav made his homemaker wife Rabri Devi his heir. Several characters take inspiration from real-life people in Indian politics and notable events. It also stars Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, Inaamulhaq and others.
Dark 7 White - ZEE5
Dark 7 White is political crime thriller series helmed by filmmaker Sattvik Mohanty, with Ekta Kapoor producing the show. The series revolves around the untimely murder of potential youngest chief minister of Rajasthan. Dark 7 White is about how his seven friends become the primary suspects in his murder, each having an agenda of his own to finish him off. The series stars Sumeet Vyas, Monica Chaudhary, Tanya Kaira and others.
