Hera Pheri 3: Priyadarshan confirms he will begin work on Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty starrer in 2026; says, ‘I am taking it as a challenge’

However, the film hit a roadblock when it was initially announced with a completely new team, only to be shelved later. Destiny, however, had different plans, ultimately bringing back the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal—alongside director Priyadarshan to make the third film. The filmmaker confirmed the news on his birthday last year, sending fans into a frenzy. Now, in the latest update, he has revealed that he will begin working on Hera Pheri 3 in 2026. Priyadarshan Offers Hera Pheri 3 Update

Priyadarshan is currently busy with Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and an ensemble cast. In a recent conversation with ETV Bharat on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hera Pheri, he shared that he will start working on the third installment next year. He also acknowledged the massive responsibility and challenge that comes with making the sequel.

Priyadarshan said, “I plan to start writing Hera Pheri 3 sometime next year. It is going to be very challenging to make the third part because there will be too many expectations. People are waiting to see Akshay, Paresh, and Suniel together again. We always say that it is easy to make people cry, it is easy to scare people, but making them laugh is very difficult—especially without using double entendre dialogues. You have to create humor that is pure and relatable. Also, humor evolves over time, and the taste of the audience changes.”

He added, “We have to keep up with that. The characters have aged, and accordingly, the audience should find their evolution believable. These are crucial aspects to consider. I see this as a challenge. Let’s see how it works. Some situations will definitely be exaggerated, but people should still feel that they could actually happen. Once I put pen to paper, I will have a better understanding. I truly have to overcome this challenge and craft a strong script.”

The announcement of Hera Pheri 3 happened in a rather special way. On Priyadarshan’s birthday, Akshay Kumar penned a heartfelt wish for him. In response, the renowned director replied, "Thank you so much for your wishes, Akshay. In return, I would like to give you a gift—I’m willing to do Hera Pheri 3.
