Hema Malini RECALLS the time when Dharmendra borrowed a milkman’s cycle to reach for a shoot!

Even though the legendary actor Dev Anand is no more amongst us, his legacy of films will always act as a guiding light and will also serve as a reminder to the greatness of the actor. Recently, an event was organised by Film Heritage Foundation to celebrating Dev Anand’s 100th birth anniversary which was attended by many of Bollywood’s celebrated names like Waheeda Rehman, Hema Malini, Jackie Shroff, Divya Dutta and many others.

Speaking at the said event, Hema Malini not just recalled her association and respect for the late actor Dev Anand, but also shared an extremely amusing story about her husband Dharmendra. Hema Malini said that, they were shooting for the film ‘Razia Sultan’ in Jaipur along with Dharmendra. She added that, they all were very tired and that their vehicle had stopped at a railway crossing as there was a sign of a passing train.

Bollywood’s ‘original Dreamgirl’ Hema Malini said that, they had been waiting for a really long time so that the train can pass by and they could go to the other side. But, since there was no immediate sign of the tarin approaching, everyone of them were wondering about the time for which they would have to wait inside the car for the train to pass by so that the gates can open. Around this time, Dharmendra saw here and there and landed up spotting a milkman who was riding his bicycle. Wasting no time, Dharmendra stopped that milkman.

Just as when Hema Malini was wondering as to what was Dharmendra talking to the milkman, the latter told the milkman to get down from his cycle. Hema Malini recalled that the milkman who had got scared by then, gave Dharmendra his cycle. Dharmendra then, called out Hema Malini’s name and told her to sit on the backseat of the cycle, which he rode all by himself!
