One superhero movie that has been making headlines for a long while, and not for the best reasons, is Hellboy: The Crooked Man. The third film in the franchise, which introduces Jake Kesy as the new Right Hand of Doom, is the talk of the town due to all the release drama surrounding it. Fans have been kept in the dark for a long time while rumors continued to circulate about possible dates. However, it was a surprise when the makers dropped the bombshell that the movie is entirely skipping a theatrical release and opting for a streaming premiere instead. According to an IGN report, Hellboy: The Crooked Man is set to debut on streaming on October 8, 2024, for $19.99 as a two-week exclusive to all electronic sell-through partners. These platforms include Amazon and Fandango. On October 22, the film will debut on VOD for $6.99. This includes the US, where the film is shockingly skipping the big screen entirely. However, there are no details for India yet.
What’s interesting is that the film could also be available for streaming in India on rent, considering Amazon is also available in the country. The release date drama has been equally chaotic for Hellboy: The Crooked Man in India. While rumors suggested the makers might drop the movie in theaters on August 30, 2024, without announcing it, in India, PVR had even announced a release date—which, of course, the movie didn’t meet.
PVR INOX, one of the leading film distribution chains in India, had announced the arrival date for Hellboy: The Crooked Man in the country. The listing shared by the theater chain on its Twitter handle read: "Prepare for a chilling adventure! Hellboy: The Crooked Man, directed by Brian Taylor, takes you on a 1950s journey where rookie agent Bobbie Jo Song must team up with Hellboy to battle the sinister Crooked Man. Don’t miss this epic showdown between good and evil! Releasing on 13th September!"

The Dark Horse Comic synopsis for Hellboy: The Crooked Man reads: "Stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent discover a small community haunted by witches, led by the Crooked Man, a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past." As of now, when the movie will release in India remains a mystery that only the makers can solve.
