Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his OTT debut with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. While the show became the talk of the town for various reasons such as the narrative, costumes, beautiful sets, and the star cast, one of the actors, Sharmin Segal, became the target of trolling. For the uninitiated, Sharmin is Bhansali's niece and plays the character of Alamzeb in the show. Amid massive trolling, the actress finally opens up about the same.

Recently, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Sharmin talked about how audiences did not like her performance as Alamzeb. She said, “Every creative person creates for an audience. They are a very important part in a creator’s journey, in a creator’s life because they also help you grow.”

Speaking about the negativity and what should an actor do at such times, she said, “With negativity comes positivity. You have to take it all in, figure it out accordingly, and what resonates with you and what doesn’t resonate with you.”

Further speaking about her character Sharmin added that Alamzeb is a little different than the other actors in the show as she is not a tawaif. "So that I think is an important part of the character and how me as an actor and Sanjay Sir as the director interpreted the character,” she added.

Sharmin also revealed that she put a lot of hard work in her role and if the audience is voicing their opinion then they have the right to do so. She said, “I gave it my all eventually to give it to my audience and they do have the right to voice their opinions, and, in the world, we live in today it’s very easy and accessible to voice your opinion.”

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah Badussha.
